While there is so much to celebrate in Australia, and an estimated 582 million entrepreneurs around the world, there are millions of entrepreneurs living in poverty in developing countries. As a small business we understand how much the support of others can help build a business – with this in mind we choose to support courageous women turning their ideas into a small business, providing for their families and transforming their communities. Agile IT Solutions is proud to partner with Opportunity International Australia to help end poverty in developing countries – one family, one community at a time.
Working with women and families globally who live in poverty, Opportunity helps them grow their own businesses through small loans and generate sustainable incomes so they can lift themselves out of poverty with dignity – creating a new future for generations to come.
AgileIT Solutions donates a percentage of our profits to Opportunity each month. We also seek to spread the word to our clients about Opportunity’s important work in supporting families living in poverty in some of the poorest countries in the world.
It’s estimated that 1 in 5 people globally live in extreme poverty, including many of our closest neighbours overseas, from Indonesia to India. In partnership with Opportunity and their sustainable solutions to poverty alleviation, we help provide small loans to families overseas, with 95% of these loans going to women, to grow or start their own businesses. Many of these loans go on to be
re-loaned and recycled over time – meaning there’s even more impact for communities in need.
Through locally-led programs, Opportunity also provides essential health training, school fee and education loans to help children continue their learning, and women’s safety programs to prevent domestic violence and human trafficking.

From working in a factory to creating and selling her own garments, being entrepreneurial always came naturally to Yohana. Growing up living in poverty in Kupang, Indonesian and no having the same resources as others – sometimes living a hand to mouth existence – Yohana had to work hard to create a sustainable livelihood for herself and he two children, Francisco and Carolina.
With the help of a small loan, Yohana opened a snack stall with A$200 in 2017. The business was successful but she found that she wasn’t busy enough for her liking so she hired some employees to run the food stall and set up a second business – tailoring and making garments – with the support of a another loan.
In the future, if it is feasible, Yohanna plans to buy more sewing machines and open a course to teach young girls how to sew clothes and sell them.
Today, Yohana’s businesses are thriving and she has been able to send her two children to school. Her eldest daughter, Carolina, is in university studying accounting and her con, Francisco is in his last year of high school.
Yohana wants to continue to be a great example for her children so they can feel confident creating a better future. Ï choose to be happy.” she said. “If I am not happy, nothing will work for me.”
