The platform

Microsoft 365 is more than email

For most modern businesses, Microsoft 365 is the backbone of how your team works. It underpins email, collaboration, file storage, security, and increasingly AI.

Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, and Excel are only part of the platform. Microsoft 365 also includes endpoint security, device management, identity governance, and the foundation for AI-assisted work.

As a Microsoft AI Cloud Partner, our role is not just to administer the platform, but to configure, manage and run it properly. In most environments we take on, there is significant value already being paid for but not being used or not configured correctly.

This applies across industries, from professional and financial services to transport, hospitality, manufacturing, and operational environments, wherever technology is critical to how the business runs.

What good looks like

Making the most of what you are already paying for

Most businesses running Microsoft 365 Business Premium use the core tools but leave a large part of the platform underused or unmanaged.

A well-managed environment is structured, secure, and consistently governed. It supports how the business operates day to day, reduces risk, and provides a foundation for growth.

The areas below are examples of what Microsoft 365 makes possible when properly configured. Which of these are appropriate for your business depends on your licensing, your current environment, and the scope of work agreed during onboarding. They are options that could and should be considered, not a checklist of what every engagement will deliver.

Identity and access

  • Multi-factor authentication that can be enforced for every user
  • Conditional access policies aligned to your risk profile
  • Privileged access managed and audited
  • Guest access governed, not open-ended

Device management

  • Devices enrolled in Intune and governed by policy
  • Security baselines applied and maintained
  • Remote wipe available for lost or stolen devices
  • Software deployment and update management centralised

Email and communication security

  • Anti-phishing, anti-spoofing, and attachment policies configured
  • DMARC, DKIM, and SPF records in place and monitored
  • Safe links and safe attachments active
  • Email retention policies aligned to business requirements

Files, storage and AI readiness

  • SharePoint structure organised and governed
  • OneDrive backup and sync policies applied
  • Sensitivity labels available to protect confidential data
  • Environment prepared for Microsoft Copilot deployment

What is actually implemented for your business is defined during the discovery and onboarding process, based on your licensing, operational needs, and the service tier you choose.

Ownership and culture

Privately and family owned businesses

Most of our clients are privately or family owned. This is not a requirement, but it reflects how our service model works best.

Privately owned businesses tend to make decisions with a longer view. The relationship with their service providers matters more, and accountability sits closer to the decision maker.

We are a family business ourselves. We understand the dynamic of a business where the decision maker is also responsible for the outcome, and where the relationship between client and provider is built on trust over time.

  • Decisions made by people with genuine skin in the game
  • Long-term relationships valued over short-term cost savings
  • Direct access to leadership on both sides of the partnership
  • No internal IT politics or competing stakeholder agendas to navigate
  • Accountability that is personal, not institutional

Questions

Questions about the technology environment

We use Google Workspace, not Microsoft 365. Does that rule us out?

Not necessarily, but it does make the fit less natural.

Our tooling, expertise, and service model are built around the Microsoft 365 platform, so the partnership works best where that is already in place.

If you are currently using Google Workspace but are open to migrating, that is something we can scope and deliver as a structured project. For businesses planning to remain on Google Workspace long term, we will be transparent early if we are not the right provider, rather than trying to apply our model where it does not align well.

Our M365 tenancy was set up years ago and has not been actively managed. Is that a problem?
It is common, and it is fixable. Most M365 tenancies that have not been actively managed have MFA that is not properly enforced, devices not enrolled in Intune, SharePoint that is unstructured, and security features that are licensed but switched off. The discovery process includes a review of your tenancy so we know exactly what we are starting with. Remediating the environment to baseline is typically scoped as project work before the managed service begins.
Does being family or privately owned matter to Agile IT?
It is a tendency in our client base, not a requirement. Privately owned businesses tend to make decisions differently, they take the long view, they value the relationship, and they do not have layers of internal process to navigate. But what matters most is the mindset: a business that sees technology as an investment and wants a genuine partner. That can and does exist across all ownership structures.
We have an internal IT person. Does that conflict with Agile IT?
No. We work alongside internal resources regularly. An internal coordinator, office manager, or IT-adjacent person is often very valuable, they handle first-line communication with staff and keep day-to-day requests organised. We operate as the technical and strategic layer behind that person, not in competition with them. The structure is agreed in the discovery conversation so everyone is clear on roles.
